Diaphragm dryer for compressed air

Metal Work Pneumatics has expanded its range of Skillair air service equipment with Diaphragm dryers, which are used to reduce compressed air’s moisture content by lowering the dewpoint ie, the temperature at which condensate starts to form.

This modular unit typically includes a 5 micron filter, depurator (coalescing filter) and the dryer.

The drying element comprises cross-fibre diaphragms around an inner tube. Compressed air passes through the tube and flows back through the hollow diaphragms. Regenerated air required for the drying is tapped from the outlet port, expanding as it passes through a nozzle, which reduces the relative humidity.

This results in water passing from the compressed air which is then discharged through holes in the bottom of the drier.

The advantages are:

  • Guaranteed drying;
  • Reduced dryer maintenance as none of the components are subject to wear;
  • Environmentally friendly drying process.
