Noshok needle and manifold valves with ZnNi plating

Noshok valves are now available with zinc nickel (ZnNi) plating, achieving greatly improved resistance to corrosion in salt spray (fog) corrosion tests. All Noshok needle and manifold valves will now utilise this material as standard plating to withstand and endure harsh corrosive environments.

In a certified test by an independent lab, two samples were subjected to 1000+ hours of exposure to a 5% salt spray (fog) environment in a test chamber operated and maintained in accordance with ASTM B-117-07a. After only 21 hours, the electroless nickel-plated sample showed significant corrosion, while the ZnNi-plated sample showed no visible corrosion on the part after over 1000 h of exposure. Internal tests yielded the same results - after being submerged for 3500 h in a 10% salt solution, the ZnNi-plated valves far outperformed the nickel and cobalt plated valves in terms of corrosion resistance.

Improvements in corrosion protection have become increasingly important for outdoor applications, where traditional plating has limited performance capabilities in demanding environments. In addition to its corrosion resistance (higher than any other sacrificial alloy), zinc nickel plating provides increased deposit hardness that results in extended wear resistance and longer service life.
