Outotec has launched TankCell e500, with a 500 m3 float capacity. Larger float cells mean lower greater efficiency - on an average rougher/scavenger duty, for example, all things being equal, six 500 m3 cells would need only 75-80% of the installed power of ten 300 m3 cells or little more than half the installed power of thirty 100 m3 units.
Advances in flotation technology have contributed to developments in the large float cell category, with the TankCell e500 incorporating features such as forced-air technology. This feature offers the flexibility to decouple air addition and mixing to avoid sanding, provides separate areas within the FloatForce mechanism for pumping and air dispersion, and delivers more efficient pumping even at highest air-feed rate, delivering maximum performance with low power draw.
The TankCell e500 also has a direct gearbox drive, so there is no belt/pulley arrangement or external motor cooling system, and mixing is driven by a standard 4-pole motor. This results in a smaller drive footprint, simplified maintenance, and greater reliability with a purpose-designed gearbox.
