RFID innovation warehouse for Sydney
LogicaCMG has launched an RFID Innovation Warehouse in Sydney to demonstrate how RFID technology can be applied in real warehouse business scenarios.
The facility will enable Australian organisations to progress their RFID strategies through awareness workshops, feasibility studies and business case development.
The warehouse is based on a design LogicaCMD has already established in the Netherlands and features general warehouse and transport business scenarios.
It uses a combination of forklift, handheld and fixed-mount readers to demonstrate the efficiency, automation and time-saving benefits of RFID technology.
Scenarios currently on view include automatic receipt of products and cartons within a consignment, cartons and consignment label production, end-to-end location tracking, automated tracking and validation with third-party suppliers and handheld asset tag administration and identification.
The RFID Innovation Warehouse was the result of a partnership between LogicaCMD and GS1, Sybase, Intermec and Alien.
"The Sydney RFID Innovation Warehouse will enable LogicaCMG, as well as our strategic partners, a facility to progress the adoption of this technology in Australia," Colin Holgate, LogicaCMG CEO said.
"It will help organisations to experiment and subsequently get their RFID project right from the start, enabling organisations to achieve solid, fast and reliable return on their investment with any RFID-enabled mission-critical production system."
