CSIRO spins out a company
Bulk materials handlers the world over are said to reap rewards following the announcement of a new CSIRO-owned spin-out company called Intalysis.
The company has hit the ground running with multiple orders from industry leader BHP Billiton and other resource companies. It has also secured local and international distributors including Australian-based Control Systems Technology and Praxis Minas in Brazil.
Intalysis was spun out to commercialise the low frequency microwave (LFM) moisture analyser, an online analysis instrument that delivers continuous, accurate measurements of moisture in bulk materials handling applications.
Originally developed by the online analysis and control team at CSIRO Minerals, the LFM analyser is currently being used by operators in the iron ore and coal industries to improve their material handling and environmental performance. The success of the innovative analysers could soon see the systems also used in a wide range of seemingly unrelated applications. These range from the manufacture of wood chips and particle board to the control of moisture in the bulk grain and food industry.
Initially, Intalysis is a wholly-owned CSIRO company.
