IoT specialist receives Australian Good Design Award
Brisbane-based technology company mIoT (part of the Madison Group) has received a Gold Award for Design Excellence at the Good Design Awards for its Captis Multi IoT product.
The device, which is designed and manufactured in Brisbane and allows businesses to remotely measure, monitor and manage their assets and infrastructure, was recognised in the Engineering Design category for its durability, robustness and ease of use.
The Good Design Awards jury commented that “the market to connect existing infrastructure and assets with data is nascent and requires solutions that are robust and easy to work with. The team behind the Captis Multi IoT is to be congratulated for engineering a device that is durable, water-resistant and agnostic to the different types of sensors required for specific applications.”
Captis Multi is designed to enable remote assets and infrastructures to be constantly monitored while unattended and is used across a range of industries, including water and wastewater, mining, agriculture and transport to allow businesses to maximise uptime, reduce operating costs and improve sustainability.
“We’re exceptionally honoured to have our product associated with the Good Design Awards,” said mIoT CEO Gerhard Loots. “The digitisation of industries and infrastructure represents a massive opportunity for Australia to help combat climate change and to do things better. Building solutions for this industry requires exceptional engineering and design to ensure solutions are tough and fit for purpose — we’re proud of our team’s efforts and grateful for the judges’ recognition of it.”
Projects recognised with an Australian Good Design Award demonstrate excellence in professional design and highlight the impact a design-led approach has on business success and social and environmental outcomes.
The winners of Australia’s peak international design awards were announced on Friday, 16 September at the 2022 Australian Good Design Awards. The Good Design Awards reward projects across 11 design disciplines covering more than 30 categories and sub-categories.
“We know that good design, when used effectively, can improve our quality of life and make the world around us better, safer, more efficient and more beautiful,” said Dr Brandon Gien, CEO of Good Design Australia and Chair of the Australian Good Design Awards. “It is clear from this year’s winning projects that investment in professional design delivers real impact — be it at a commercial, environmental or societal level. As our world transitions to a less carbon-intensive future, a design-led approach to solving problems and delivering meaningful impact is going to become more critical.”
