Brandywine has released a range of dedicated instruments utilising the IEEE 1588 PTP protocol.

Precision time protocol (PTP), described in the IEEE 1588-2008 version 2 standard, enables extremely precise synchronisation of networks with an absolute timing accuracy of better than 100 nanoseconds to UTC, using hardware-generated timestamps. This provides significant improvements on the accuracy of network-distributed time over network time protocol (NTP) servers.

The PTP Slave Network Time Client provides network service providers and equipment manufacturers with a packet-based timing and synchronisation solution.

The PTP80 GrandMaster Clock generates and distributes precisely synchronised time across packet networks. The functionality of the clock is also available as a module (Option 80 PTP GrandMaster) compatible with the M210 and M211 Modular Timing System.

To complete the familiy, TimeSpy Elite and TimeSpy Elan (portable network time analysers) can both accept PTP input (as well as a wide range of other inputs) and check it against UTC.
