Moxa IMC-P101 series PoE media converters

Moxa has released the IMC-P101 series of UL508-certified industrial PoE media converters, designed to offer a long distance ethernet-to-fibre communications solution with Power over Ethernet functionality to reduce cabling costs and setup times.

The IMC-P101 series provides IEEE 802.3af PoE ethernet-to-fibre media conversion from 10/100BaseTx to 100BaseFx (SC/ST) in a -40 to 75°C operating temperature range designed for harsh environments. When used as PoE power source equipment (PSEs), these units provide up to 15.4 W of power to IEEE 802.3af compliant powered devices (PDs) over unshielded twisted pair cable. These features both eliminate the need for additional wiring and offer installation flexibility.

Most media converters support link fault pass-through functionality, which detects link failures in a network and disables the converter in response. However, in most media converters this will also cut off the power supply to any powered devices, creating system downtime. Moxa’s IMC-P101 series includes a Power Remote Reset (PRR) function that prevents downtime by enabling a continuous flow of power to connected devices even when link fault pass-through is enabled or there are power issues at a higher level of the network.

The IMC-P101 converters support IEEE 802.3/802.3u/802.3x with 10/100M, full/half-duplex, and MDI/ MDI-X auto-sensing.
