Teledyne FLIR IIS has announced the Bumblebee X series, an advanced stereo vision solution designed for robotic guidance and logistics.

Bumblebee X offers a real-time stereo vision solution for depth sensing that works up to ranges of 20 m with the wide baseline solution. The low latency makes it suitable for real-time applications such as autonomous mobile robots, automated guided vehicles, pick-and-place, bin picking and palletisation.

Bumblebee X features factory-calibrated 24 cm baseline stereo vision with 3 Mp sensors for high accuracy and low latency real-time applications, an IP67-rated vision system with ordering options of colour and monochrome, different fields of view and 1 GigE or 5 GigE PoE.

Onboard processing outputs a depth map and colour data for point cloud conversion and colourisation, and it has the ability to trigger an external pattern projector and synchronise multiple systems together for more precise 3D depth information.

The accompanying software library has articles, example code and Windows, Linux and Robotics Operating System (ROS) support.
