Cylinder sensors are used to detect the position on pneumatic C slot cylinders. The advantage is that the non-contact sensors virtually work without wear and often achieve a longer life than reed switches, saving on repair costs and down times.
A short variant of 17.5 mm is available for extremely short cylinders (eg, for miniature grippers). The sensor is inserted into the slot from the top where it is held in position by a clamping mechanism. This enables quick mounting. Fixing is done via a screw at the end of the sensor. This also provides a good strain relief.
With a height of only 5 mm, the flush variant can be flush-mounted with the cylinder so it is largely protected against damage.
The sensors allow a travel speed of up to 10 m/s so even quick movements of pistons are reliably detected.
The semiconductor outputs (PNP or NPN) are designed as normally open. For connection, M8 connectors, M12 cables and open cable ends are available. An LED integrated in the housing indicates the switching status, which facilitates adjustment. The operating voltage is between 10 and 30.
Due to GMR technology the sensors feature very long sensing ranges and high switching frequencies. Further, they are ingress resistant in all applications due to high protection ratings IP67 and IP69K.
