Hengstler AD 36 optical absolute rotary encoder
The Hengstler AD 36 is an optical absolute encoder with a multiturn gear and optical scanning housed within a 36 mm case. Its through hollow shaft enables an assembly that is compatible with a size 15 resolver.
The device is appropriate for use within brushless DC servo motors with small frame sizes. The mechanical design consists of two ball bearings and a flexible torque support.
With an integrated diagnostic system, including a code plausibility check, the output data always represents the true position. Also, the temperature can be measured and read out with 8-bit resolution. If programmable limits are exceeded or underrun it is indicated over warning and alarm bits.
The device offers new technology with a fully digital position data up to 19 bit (single turn) and 12 bit (multiturn), transmitted over the BiSS interface with a variable clock rate up to 10 MHz.
The absolute encoder has an integrated diagnostic system that controls and regulates the internal signals. This maximises motor uptime, through a pre-warning in case of any system error or aging effects, well before they affect the function of the encoder.
