Watlow has developed its No-Arc technology that extends the life of relays. A No-Arc relay is a mechanical relay with arc suppression provided through the use of smart electronics. This technology reduces the amount of arcing across the relay contacts and has a life of more than four million cycles compared to relays without arc suppression that have a life of approximately 100,000 operations.

Watlow has incorporated this new technology into its Ez-Zone family of integrated controllers. The Ez-Zone PM and Ez-Zone RM controllers can be configured as an on/off, PID, over/under limit controller or these functions can be combined into one integrated controller with field communications such as EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, Modbus or Profibus. Ez-Zone controllers featuring No-Arc technology support up to 15 A loads and over two million cycles under max operating loads (240 VAC, 5 s cycle time).
