Angular position sensor

ASM has introduced the POSIROT PRAS3, a magnetic angular position sensor in a compact 36 mm diameter housing. The active sensor element uses an internal, contact-free permanent magnet to determine the angular position. The measurement ranges are available in 15° increments: 0-15, 0-30, 0-45 up to 0-360°. The servo flange mounting ensures quick and easy installation for the PRAS3 series.

With its stainless steel housing that is rated up to IP69K, the PRAS3 series is suitable for extremely harsh conditions such as those found in many industrial applications. The sensor is equipped with two extra strong ball bearings to handle axial and radial loads along the sensor’s 10 mm shaft.

Mounting brackets are available for either eccentric mounting clamps or through whole bolts. The user may choose from two types of brackets: one that is welded to the application and another that is bolted onto the application.

Three different analog outputs are available: 0.5-4.5, 0.5-10 V and 4-20 mA. The resolution and repeatability are up to ±0.03% over the full scale. The linearity is ±0.3% over the full scale. All of the PRAS3 models are available with the output signal increasing either clockwise or counter-clockwise and with a housing that is rated either IP67 or IP69K.
