Universal Robots establishes Asia Pacific headquarters

Universal Robots (UR) has announced the official opening of its APAC (excluding China and India) headquarters in Singapore. The opening of UR’s sixth global office is a result of the increasing demand for collaborative robots across the region over the past three years.

With a large number of multinational high-technology companies and small and medium enterprises located across APAC, UR is expecting to significantly increase its client base throughout the region. The company’s Singapore office will be responsible for the operations and expansion plans across the region as well as training regional distributors on UR’s latest technologies.

In addition, UR also announced the appointment of its first general manager for its APAC operations. Based in Singapore, Shermine Gotfredsen has been promoted from within UR and will continue to lead the company’s activities across the region.

UR was founded in 2005 in Odense, Denmark, and has been serving the Asian market since 2011. Through its global outreach, the company strives to keep manufacturers informed about the benefits that their collaborative and lightweight robots can bring to their businesses.

UR has been enjoying great success since launching its simple-to-program robots in Australia and New Zealand in early 2014. The company currently has three authorised distributors in ANZ and is constantly on the lookout for additional partners that can deliver effective technology solutions to its local customers.
