The latest industrial radar sensors from Pepperl+Fuchs are designed for precise object detection, velocity measurement and collision protection. With integration via CANopen or the latest CAN-J1939 interface, these sensors are said to offer robust performance even in challenging environments. By utilising radar waves’ unique ability to reflect or penetrate materials differently, these sensors provide detection across various conditions.
The sensors feature three advanced measurement modes. The ‘Closest Distance’ mode detects the nearest object, regardless of material, making it suitable for identifying objects in a vehicle’s exit area. The ‘Best Reflection’ mode identifies the object with the optimal reflection properties while suppressing interfering objects, such as when measuring the fill level of a tank through a plastic wall.
The ‘Fastest Velocity’ mode detects the object moving towards or away from the sensor at the highest speed, making it useful for monitoring the travel path of automated guided vehicles (AGVs). By leveraging the way radar waves interact with different materials, these sensors provide detection across various conditions.
