The Hioki 8430-20 10-channel data logger is palm-sized and can be operated from an AC adapter, rechargeable battery pack or external battery.

The Hioki 8430-20 has 10 fully isolated, analog DC voltage/thermocouple input channels and four digital, pulse counting input channels. Onboard data storage provides 3.5 megawords of data on the instrument’s internal 7 MB memory (allowing, for example, 268 days of 10 channels plus four pulse channel data storage when sampled every two minutes).

Sampling rate for the analog channels is 10 ms minimum, enabling accurate waveform recording. Results can be stored on Hioki flash card memory, which is selectable between 128, 256, 512 MB and 1 GB. Input voltage ranges are selectable from -100 mV to +100 mV up to -60 to +60 V (full-scale max is 100 V). Flash card memory also permits extension of data logging (for example, 327 days of 10-channel plus four pulse channel data when sampled every second). Analog channels can be designated for thermocouple measurement (2000 °C full scale) and are suitable for connection of K, J, E, T, N, R, S and B types.

Maximum pulse counting frequency is 5000 counts/s, thus making the digital channels suitable for monitoring rotational speed, angular acceleration and total angle of revolution by integration of pulse counts.

Triggering is selectable for analog and digital channels from rising/falling through preset level or window mode (entering/exiting preset low and high levels). Individual channels may be ANDed (logical product) or ORed (logical sum), and programmable alarms are provided.
