IE Engineered Products noise-output testing services

Friday, 18 July, 2014

Noise testing and consulting services are being provided by IE Engineered Products for all heavy industries including construction, mining, quarries and power generation for better safety of personnel and communities.

To help eliminate the chances of workers (and in some cases, members of a residential or commercial community nearby) suffering from ‘occupational noise-induced hearing loss’, the consulting service provides: noise surveys and evaluations; operator safety advice; site inspections and recommendations; in-cab testing and recommendations; and general WH&S and OH&S noise recommendations.

The expansion by IE Engineered Products into such complete services comes at a time when WorkCover authorities around Australia revealed around 16,500 compensation claims are made nationally every year based on deafness due to exposure to noise in the workplace.

Ideally, the consulting service seeks to reduce the incidence of hearing loss caused by the high levels of noise generated in heavy industries, particularly as large machines are in abundance.

Furthermore, as the proximity between residential communities and mines, quarries and power stations increases, the rapid and clear identification of potentially damaging noise sources becomes even more critical.

The company provides assessments and predictions of noise and vibration in the outdoor environment, reviewing proposed projects with respect to local, state and national noise-impact criteria.

Noise-impact studies are becoming a far more common requirement imposed by authorities - and this is being imposed at the planning stage, so it is becoming close to mandatory on a national level.
