Olympus industrial instrumentation at AOG 2015
Part of the range of inspection and measurement systems from Olympus will be on display at the 2015 Australasian Oil and Gas Exhibition and Conference (AOG). The event is Australia’s largest oil and gas exhibition and will be held at the Perth Conference and Exhibition Centre 11-13 March.
Maintenance and quality assurance professionals will have the opportunity to learn more about the industry and applications of non-destructive testing (NDT), remote visual inspection (RVI) and handheld XRF from the experienced Olympus staff attending. NDT is any analysis technique used to evaluate the properties of materials or components without causing damage nor permanently altering the article being inspected. NDT can save both money and time in product evaluation, troubleshooting and research. Olympus has been developing RVI technology for many years and expanding its application to a range of markets. It has become a critical technique within the oil and gas industry to minimise confined space entries as well as enable viewing small areas previously not accessible.
Colm Kinsella, industrial sales specialist with Olympus, stated, “The range of analysis, testing and imaging instrumentation featured this year illustrates our commitment to the development of new technologies, products and services.”
One featured instrument will be the new RollerFORM phased array wheel probe which has been developed by Olympus specifically to simplify the inspection of composites as well as corrosion in pipes and vessels. The RollerFORM, combined with a phased array flaw detector such as the Olympus OmniScan SX, uses zero-degree ultrasonic beams for manufacturing and maintenance inspections. The unique tyre material of the RollerFORM has been designed to guarantee high-quality, immersion-like ultrasonic testing in a durable, handheld instrument.
Also on display will be the Nortec 600 incorporating the latest advancements in high-performance eddy current flaw detection. A compact, durable unit, it is suitable for markets such as industrial quality assurance in construction, oil and gas production and exploration. The rugged housing of the device makes it suitable for use in a wide range of harsh operating environments.
The latest videoscopes are invaluable tools for inspectors looking for superb image reproduction in difficult applications and locations with limited operator access including boilers, aeroplane fuselages and engines, and wind turbine gear boxes. The latest portable, compact designs provide rugged durability for operation in harsh environments. Olympus will be exhibiting the Olympus iPlex RX industrial videoscope featuring its PulsarPic technology which greatly enhances image quality and increases the efficiency of defect detection.
XRF is utilised to perform positive material identification (PMI) at all critical areas of construction as well as throughout a maintenance schedule. At AOG 2015, Olympus will be displaying the handheld Delta Professional XRF, which is a rugged and reliable XRF analyser that maximises both speed and accuracy.
