Merger creates FLIR Commercial Systems
FLIR, manufacturer of infrared cameras, is to merge its Commercial Vision Systems and Thermography divisions to create FLIR Commercial Systems.
FLIR says the new division will continue to focus on the large potential for growth in commercial and industrial markets and will create value from commonality in distribution, customers and strategic infrared product development.
In Australia, FLIR Commercial Systems will bring together a wider variety of thermography and imaging applications including:
- condition monitoring
- research and development
- manufacturing process control
- airborne observation and broadcast
- search and rescue
- drug interdiction
- surveillance and reconnaissance
- navigation safety
- border and maritime patrol
- environmental monitoring
- ground-based security
FLIR has been supplying infrared thermography and night vision equipment to science, industry, law enforcement and the military for over 50 years.
Roger Christiansz, General Manager, FLIR Commercial Systems Australia, said: "The merger is a natural fit. Both businesses have been focused on the enormous potential for commercially oriented thermal imaging systems.
"Both divisions have been focused on developing high-volume markets for our cooled and uncooled technology. And both divisions have been driven by developing highly innovative products. Now we will combine them to continue to provide FLIR products and services which will grow and lead the market,” he said.
