ABB announces strategic partnership with IPD

From 1 September 2020, IPD will become ABB’s preferred distributor in Australia for low-voltage power distribution and control products to the electrical wholesale market.

IPD has been servicing wholesalers, contractors, switchboard manufacturers, OEMs and utility customers in Australia for more than 60 years. ABB said its wholesaler customers will benefit from IPDs large-scale distribution network that provides greater availability and accessibility to the products customers need, when they need them.

Also from 1 September, IPD will support ABB with customised distribution boards using ABB components. ABB will continue to support customers and facilitate their needs through IPD to provide the boards to customer requirements.

”ABB is a world-leading manufacturer of products and solutions for the electrical market. We are proud to be partnering with them to further support the wholesale channel in Australia,” said Michael Sainsbury, Chief Executive Officer, IPD. “This initiative will enable IPD to combine the world-class products and solutions of ABB, together with IPD’s best-in-class pre- and post-sales support and inventory commitment to ensure our customers enjoy a fantastic experience when procuring equipment for their needs.”

David Sullivan, Head of Electrification for ABB Australia, added: “Given IPD’s scale of operations, they will be in a position to hold significant stock in Australia to widely serve the needs of our customers. This means broad access and availability of ABB products when and where our customers need them.”
