VRTU6000 remote terminal unit

The VRTU6000 is a fully packaged video RTU ready for installation into most industrial or commercial control and monitoring applications.

The RTU consists of a rugged enclosure pre-assembled to make installation and connection simple. The VRTU6000 is based on the Willowglen Series 6000 video RTU, which has powerful control and monitoring features with additional video capabilities. The VRTU6000 includes the CPU-6000 controller, power supply and interfacing terminals.

The VRTU6000 interfaces directly to the Willowglen Syslink SCADA software, which provides all the features you would expect from a top level SCADA package with the additional video streaming capabilities. The Syslink SCADA software provides alarms, trending, logging and history capabilities.

The CPU-6000 utilises the Quantum Effect Design 64 bit RM5231-250 MIPS processor together with Galileo GT64115 system controller as the Central Processing Unit.

The high performance RM5231 MIPS processor has several special DSP-like instructions that enable it to efficiently compress video frames captured to the industry standard H.263 protocol in either motion video or single frame modes.

The compressed data can either be recorded on an EIDE hard disk or immediately transmitted across the ethernet, RS485 or modem interfaces to a display PC.

Additionally, a remote user can request image streams stored on the hard disk to be retrieved at any time.

The RTU is equipped with special software for motion detection and input triggering to allow flexible recording and yet optimise the space usage on the hard disk.

The card is capable of compressing 25 frames per second simultaneously from each of its inputs plus additional frames for 'current video' used in real-time transmissions over spread spectrum wireless ethernet.
