The Advantech APAX-5580 is a modular DIN rail IPC with comprehensive I/O modules, communication ports and control software for choice. It is particularly designed for integrating operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) to take advantage of the trend to Industry 4.0.

The APAX-5580 includes an Intel Celeron 1.6 GHz Core i3 or Core i7 1.7 GHz processor, 4 GB DDR3 memory, two GbE ports, one RS232/485/422 port, one mSATA connector, two SD slots, two mini PCIe slots, dual power input, UPS support and a 10-year lifetime RTC battery.

The unit is a totally modular system helping developers build according to their exact need without complicating the system infrastructure. This reduces the amount of time and effort needed in configuration. With the hot-swappable design, all the modules can be swapped in and out without interrupting the operation of the IPC, simplifying maintenance and troubleshooting considerably.

As a control platform serving smart factory applications, the APAX-5580 can easily connect to other third-party industrial devices. With integrated supporting modules, the APAX-5580 can connect to COM and CANbus devices. An APAX-5430 SATA module allows the addition of another SATA SSD/HDD drive, in addition to the one that comes with the APAX-5580; thus allowing a RAID 0/1 configuration.

Finally, the APAX-5435 iDoor module allows users to add a range of additional functions such as fieldbus, and the battery module allows the APAX-5580 to continue operation for up to 2 h in the event of a power failure.
