Online seminar: Trends and Megatrends in Process Engineering
Dr Hans Joachim Jacob, Senior Expert Process and Application for German mixing solutions company Ystral, will be holding an online seminar titled Trends and Megatrends in Process Engineering on Friday 24 June.
He says that rather than discuss the commonly presented megatrends such as smart factory, digitalisation, and modular production, he will focus on trends that may not be so familiar because they only affect certain industrial sectors.
“If you have a great idea or find an interesting solution, you should be more than happy to spread it around, maybe even setting a new trend,” he said.
He likens modern processing trends to the modern preference for video over still photos.
“I used to love taking photos. I don’t do that anymore: I think video clips are much more interesting and really more likely to be watched. Since then, I only shoot short video recordings of 2–3 seconds and compile a maximum two-minute clip from them,” he said. “You soon realise yourself how you have to film in order to be able to put together a little story in the evening.
“A big state garden show is taking place near where I live. Just static flower photos are pretty boring, but flowers moving in the wind, a bee crawling on them or a jet of water that makes a noise are much more beautiful as a video clip. Or when our local team, the Freiburg Eisvögel, won the German women’s basketball championship, the tricky passes and the atmosphere in the hall, you can’t express something like that in photos.”
In the same way, Dr Jacob hopes the viewers of his seminar will be interested in the latest trends affecting certain industrial sectors.
“Maybe I can tempt you to try out some trends in process technology. My next online seminar at the end of June will be about Trends and Megatrends in Process Engineering, however my aim is not to present you with the very big trends such as smart factory, digitalisation, or modular production,” he said. “Instead it will be mainly those that you are not yet familiar with or perhaps have never heard of, because these trends have so far applied only in certain industrial sectors.
A few topics that to be covered in Dr Jacob’s seminar will be:
- Cleaning without cleaning agents
- No biocides and preservatives required
- Intensive processes outside the tank
- Inline instead of batch processing
- Batch size reduction
- Cold chemistry
- Nanodispersions
Two sessions will be held:
- 9:00 – 10:30 CEST (17:00 - 18:30 AEST)
- 16:00 – 17:30 CEST (00:00 - 1:30 AEST)
