Vanguard Solutions named as conference partner
The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) has appointed engineering consultancy Vanguard Solutions as conference partner for IChemE’s inaugural Hazards Australasia conference in Perth later this year.
With offices in Perth, London and Dubai, Vanguard specialises in safety and risk management services that work with major hazards and process safety. It is one of the main independent companies that perform this service in Australia for industries including oil and gas, petrochemical, defence, mining and public transport infrastructure.
“I believe that Hazards is still the premier process safety conference and I was very excited when I heard that the conference was coming to Australia,” said Brendan Fitzgerald, Vanguard Solutions’ managing director, who attended Hazards 11 in 1983 and Hazards Asia Pacific recently.
“The conference aligns with Vanguard Solutions’ core business and we want to help promote the conference to give it the profile it deserves. I have seen first-hand the effect of major hazards and Vanguard Solutions helps business not to just operate safety, but more efficiently as well.”
“Knowledge and education is vital and Hazards Australasia is a unique chance to come together to debate a range of issues including human factors, regulation, process safety design and learning the lessons from previous major hazard incidents,” said IChemE’s Director Australasia Peter Slane.
Confirmed keynote speakers include: Bill Marmion, Minister for Mines and Petroleum and Housing; Vince Santostefano, Woodside CEO; Jane Cutler, NOPSEMA CEO; Michael Tooma, Partner and Head of Occupational Health, Safety and Security (Asia Pacific), Norton Rose Fulbright; and Captain Keith Martinsen, US aviation veteran.
Hazards Australasia is being held on 26-27 November 2013 at the Hyatt Regency Perth. Abstracts are being accepted for the conference until 16 August 2013. For more information, including sponsorship and exhibition opportunities, visit the event website.
Other supporters of Hazards Australasia include Perth Convention Bureau, Tourism Western Australia and Det Norske Veritas.
