SEW-Eurodrive to open new IG facility
SEW-Eurodrive has established a new IG facility at its national headquarters in Melbourne. The facility, measuring 10,000 m2, will assemble and service the largest drives available in Australasia and will feature cranes capable of handling 50 tonne loads and a storage capacity of 3000+ pallets.
The company has timed the grand opening of the new facility to coincide with its 30th anniversary celebrations later this year. SEW-Eurodrive says its investment is a demonstration of confidence at a time of global financial uncertainty.
“Increasing our local assembly capability will provide a real advantage to Australia’s industrial and mining sector,” said Ian Tribe, SEW-Eurodrive’s National Industrial Gears Product Manager. “We are continuing to enhance our technological edge and enviable track record of local assembly capabilities, to provide users with fast-tracked drive solutions.”
By assembling its Mining Drive at the new facility, SEW-Eurodrive says it will be able to reduce gear-unit turnaround times. The Mining Drive is assembled from stock parts, allowing for shortened delivery times.
“Unlike gear units manufactured overseas, the Australian-assembled Mining Drive can be supplied in just a few weeks, allowing users to streamline their own projects timelines,” Tribe said.
