QME Exhibition 2016 to be held in Mackay

Over 200 companies will showcase the latest mining and engineering technical solutions as the 2016 Queensland Mining & Engineering (QME) Exhibition brings nationwide industry innovators together from 26–28 July.

Held at the Mackay Showground, the exhibition will host a comprehensive program of events. QME Exhibition Director Robby Clark says the exhibition is set to bring a range of Australia’s best innovators under one roof to discuss and share the way forward for mining in Australia.

“Incorporating thought leadership with current mining and engineering trends, QME 2016 is going to be an event that offers attendees opportunities to discuss the way forward in mining. This year’s exhibition will host networking events, seminars, live demonstrations, as well as an exhibitor list that boasts of Australia’s best mining and engineering innovators,” he explained.

Since its launch in 1993, QME has grown to become the leading industrial exhibition in central Queensland. The three-day event gives all industry contributors an opportunity to come together to witness the latest products and technologies available on the market whilst being kept abreast of industry trends. They will also be given the opportunity to network with countless industry colleagues — an opportunity only available at selected times of the year.

With an overarching theme focused on innovation, features include: the QME opening party to be held on 26 July; a live demonstration program; a comprehensive seminar program comprising Australia’s best mining professionals; a business matching program; and a thought leadership panel.   

The Thought Leadership Panel Discussion, held for the first time in the history of QME, includes a panel of industry heavyweights who will examine the domestic and international outlook on coal and will provide commentary on what lies ahead for the coal mining industry. The speakers include Mick Buffier, chairman of the World Coal Association; Charles Meintjes, president (Australia) of Peabody Energy; and Andrew Barger, director of Economic and Infrastructure Policy of the Queensland Resources Council. The panel of influencers will provide well-informed feedback and compelling discussion — a rewarding opportunity for all attendees.

Another highlight, which is to be held mid-exhibition on 27 July, is the Queensland Contractor Awards Dinner 2016 hosted by the Bowen Basin Mining Club. The awards will recognise the commitment of contractors and suppliers to innovation in the resource sector. All award finalists and winners will be announced on the night, including the QME award for Most Innovative Product Launched During 2015/2016.

QME 2016 offers an agenda that will present industry professionals with knowledge-sharing and networking opportunities amongst the mining industry’s leading innovators.
