Phoenix Contact GmbH & Co KG from Blomberg, Germany, has fully taken over Mauell Netzleittechnik GmbH. With the integration of a Velbert-based automation specialist in energy networks into the company, Phoenix Contact is continuing its sustainable growth strategy in the energy market.

The company from Velbert emerged from the parent company Mauell GmbH in 2016. At the same time, Phoenix Contact took a share in the new company.

Mauell Netzleittechnik is a manufacturer of components and systems, and has extensive know-how in the automation of transformer stations and decentralised distribution networks. Its customers are well-known operators of transmission and distribution networks in the energy industry.

At present, the company has 80 employees and its headquarters will still be located in Velbert. The executive board will consist of Axel Eberhardt of Phoenix Contact as well as Dirk Riesenberg of Mauell Netzleittechnik. The takeover mainly provides synergies in the area of research and development as well as sales in Germany and worldwide. Since 1 April, the company has done business under the name ‘Phoenix Contact Energy Automation GmbH’.

This takeover serves to strategically strengthen Phoenix Contact’s position in the energy sector.

“The takeover of Mauell Netzleittechnik GmbH is another step to actively create changes in the energy supply and distribution industry,” Phoenix Contact President of Industry Management and Automation Ulrich Leidecker said.
