LAPP Australia partners with CMZ on motor control
LAPP Australia has announced a distribution partnership with Italian industrial automation and motor control company CMZ Sistemi Elettronici, to expand its range of automation solutions for the manufacturing and processing industries.
As authorised Australian distributor for CMZ, LAPP Australia will offer new solutions such as PLC controllers supporting up to 99 axes per system, HMI panels, multi-axis servo drives and motors up to 120 Nm (brushless, stepless, integrated servo drives and motors, standalone servos), gearboxes, peripherals and software libraries.
“Australian industry growth is driven by industrial automation in manufacturing, robotics, aerospace, health care and electronics,” said Robert Lloyd, Industrial Automation and Networking Manager, LAPP Australia. “LAPP Australia’s partnership with CMZ will support CMZ’s smart servo technology portfolio to help Australian industry to continue to grow — for applications which require high precision, accurate positioning and speed control.”
Established in 1976 and headquartered in Vascon di Carbonera, Italy, CMZ is part of the Soga Energy Team industrial group. CMZ has experience in many applications (including packaging, bottling, dosing, flying shear, labelling, printing and cutting), and works closely with OEMs and system integrators to bring together optimised solutions.
“The addition of CMZ’s motion control products allow LAPP Australia’s automation team to provide comprehensive industrial automation solutions,” Lloyd said. “LAPP Australia can provide a large portion of automation equipment including industrial automation, motion control, switchboard products, cables, connectors and accessories, all from the one source, backed by extensive local expertise and customer service.”
CMZ’s range of PLCs is programmable using IEC61131-3 CODESYS, which includes motion, communication and utility libraries created by CMZ.
“These motion libraries include complex motion tasks such as electronic cams, interpolation and flying shears. Communications are based on common industry protocols including CANopen, EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP and RTU, OPC-UA, Profibus DP and Profinet,” Lloyd explained.
“Standalone servos can be used for simple motion tasks. These servo drives are equipped with a PLC and programmed using tool SDSetup using structured text, as opposed to network-controlled servo drives,” he added.
“CMZ product ranges will be available on LAPP Australia’s online store, with fast shipping nationwide. Our industrial automation team will be available for product and technical support,” he concluded.
