International Mineral Processing Congress 2010

Monday, 14 December, 2009

The XXV International Mineral Processing Congress 2010 (IMPC 2010) will be held from 6-10 September in Brisbane.

Leading researchers and practitioners from across the globe will be meeting at IMPC 2010 to discuss the latest developments in the field of minerals processing. This is very much an event for all interested industry representatives to address the major issues facing the industry and consider how current issues will affect future developments.

The congress is being jointly hosted by The AusIMM, CSIRO and JKTech. Patrons of IMPC 2010 are engineering company Ausenco, technology supplier Outotec and mining company Vale.

IMPC 2010 President Dr Robin Batterham, FAusIMM, is looking forward to a successful event.

“The theme for IMPC 2010 is 'Smarter Processing for the Future', and indeed this is linked with the recent worldwide economic changes and the consequent need to examine ways of reducing mineral processing costs,” said Dr Batterham.

“Energy, water and environmental limitations are also putting pressure on the future sustainability of the minerals industry. With the ‘best of the best’ of researchers and industry representatives in attendance at IMPC 2010 as plenary and keynote speakers, the latest ideas in smarter processing for the future will be explored,” Dr Batterham continued.

The congress chair of IMPC 2010, Dr Ralph Holmes, is also excited about hosting the silver jubilee IMPC in Australia.

“Given the international calibre of IMPC, this landmark event is seen as the ‘Olympic Games’ of minerals processing. With Australia being renowned as a major player in mineral commodities, it is an honour for Brisbane to be the host city for IMPC 2010. This is one event in 2010 not to be missed,” said Dr Holmes.

The registration brochure to be released in February 2010. In the meantime, more information can be obtained from the conefrence website: www.impc2010.org.
