The Asia Oil & Gas Awards 2015 have recognised Intergraph with the Best New Technology Award for its SmartPlant Fusion solution. The win marks the second time SmartPlant Fusion has been recognised at the awards, having been awarded Innovation of the Year in late 2013.

Intergraph earned the award by demonstrating how SmartPlant Fusion has revolutionised the management of legacy engineering information on brownfield sites - a considerable challenge for both owner-operators and engineering contractors. Engineering data and documents may have been created over decades of the facility’s life cycle, being sourced from various contractors using different design and data management tools and standards. Some of the documents only exist in hard copy, or there may be multiple versions of the same document, making it unclear which version accurately represents the current configuration. With limited engineering, administrative and IT personnel on a brownfield site, organising and keeping track of valuable legacy information is a significant challenge.

SmartPlant Fusion helps to address these challenges by finding, organising, linking and visualising large volumes of engineering and design information through a simple web portal. It significantly reduces the amount of time that key personnel are required to spend on-site searching for information, helping to reduce costs, improve safety, and increase quality and productivity.

Patrick Holcomb, Intergraph Process, Power & Marine’s executive vice president of global business development and marketing, said, “Intergraph is honoured to receive the prestigious Best New Technology Award for SmartPlant Fusion. This solution is revolutionising the way owner-operators manage engineering information on brownfield sites and has already helped to extend the operating life of a number of key oil and gas assets around the world.”
