IICA Functional Safety Engineer training courses
The Institute of Instrumentation, Control & Automation (IICA) has announced that it will be holding additional Functional Safety Engineer training courses in Perth and online.
The dates for the courses are:
- Perth: 15–18 November 2022
- Online: 5–8 December 2022
The IICA TÜV Functional Safety Engineer Program is suitable for applicants with at least three years of applicable experience. Those who successfully complete the course and exam will be issued an FS Engineer certificate by TÜV Rheinland.
Engineers and designers with some experience in Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) from non-process industries with experience in functional safety in their discipline (eg, machine protection, aviation and rail) and looking for an understanding of how functional safety is applied in the process industries will also find this course appropriate. Engineers who do not satisfy the experience requirements for the FSEng (TÜV Rheinland) certificate, but who are looking for an understanding of the key principles, will find the course useful and can apply for certification later when they have gained the requisite experience.
The course facilitator, Peter Kroon, has been presenting TÜV Rheinland Functional Safety courses around the world since 2015.
The course contains:
- updated content structured around the IEC 61511 lifecycle and emphasises what is needed to comply;
- vendor-neutral material;
- balanced theoretical and practical presentations using modern interactive presentations, case studies, discussion and video demonstrations;
- some non-examinable advanced material for more experienced participants.
The IICA also has available in-house Functional Safety Engineer SIS training courses that can be provided online via Zoom if preferred. This can assist if participants are located remotely.
Readers can register online for both the Perth and online courses.
