One of the world’s leading engineering, architecture and environmental consulting companies, GHD, has merged with Hill Michael, an Australian firm specialising in the development and operation of electricity supply systems.

Hill Michael provides strategic engineering services associated with the planning, development and operation of the electricity supply system. As well as contributing technical insights to some of the largest energy-related projects in Australia, Hill Michael provides regulatory and policy advice to government.

“We have been searching for a partner in the energy sector for some time. In Hill Michael, we have found an organisation that aligns well with our business and has a well-earned reputation for technical excellence,” said GHD’s CEO Ian Shepherd.

“Managing electricity supply is technically complex and commercially challenging. We now have a market-leading mix of technical and commercial knowledge from which to draw project teams together anywhere in the country.”

“It is a great privilege, and opportunity to become part of GHD,” said Joseph O’Brien, CEO of Hill Michael. “Combining the scale, strength and diversity of GHD with our high-value strategic engineering knowledge will unlock exciting opportunities across many aspects of energy supply. With our mutual commitment to client service and innovation as well as our shared values and culture, we are sure success for our clients and people will follow.”

Hill Michael employs 60 people across five states. The company’s staff will integrate into GHD’s existing energy and electricity teams over the coming months. Dedicated energy teams will now serve the domestic and industrial markets from bases in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Cairns, Canberra and Townsville.
