COVID-19: Two more major events postponed
Advanced Manufacturing Expo has announced the event planned for 13–15 May has been postponed, as has the Workplace Health and Safety Show.
In an email on Wednesday the organisers of the AMX2020 said: “In the context of the current situation, and following the Australian Government directive, we have made the difficult but appropriate decision to postpone Advanced Manufacturing Expo (Sydney), which was planned to be held from 13–15 May, until the second half of 2020.
“Reed Exhibitions will work closely with our customers to find the most suitable alternative dates for the event.”
Reed Exhibitions said that it understands and appreciates the level of planning that is required to participate in such an event and would be doing whatever it can to help all customers, partners and attendees to prepare for the new dates.
“We would like to thank everyone for the encouragement and support received during this challenging time,” the notice continued. “We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.”
Postponing until “the second half of 2020” may be somewhat optimistic at this stage, but we all hope the crisis passes as soon as possible.
AIHS and IEC Group also announced the postponement of the Workplace Health & Safety Show in Melbourne, which was scheduled for 27–28 May.
“This is a fundamental health and safety issue,” said Marie Kinsella, Chief Executive Officer, IEC Group. “These necessary restrictions are in place to protect all of us including those who are more vulnerable in the community. Together we need to support one another and remember that physical isolation does not mean social isolation; I encourage everyone to use the technology available to you to check in with colleagues, friends and family.”
IEC Group says that it is working with the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) to confirm new dates for early 2021.
