Beckhoff Automation has established a new subsidiary in New Zealand. The suburb of Albany, in Auckland, is home to the company’s new office, which will be run by Neil Pearce, an experienced automation expert.

In 2011, 56% of Beckhoff’s total turnover was accounted for by exports. “This positive result bears out our strategy of continually expanding our international presence through the establishment of strong subsidiary companies,” said Kai Ristau, Head of International Sales and Business Development.

“With the founding of Beckhoff New Zealand, we have now equipped the furthest country in the world from Germany with its own subsidiary company. This is our latest step towards penetrating into the Asia-Pacific markets with our PC control technology through a tightly linked network,” Ristau said.

“Although New Zealand is primarily known for tourism and agriculture, there is an interesting industrial structure that is ideal for our products, such as food processing, the timber and paper industry, the textile industry, machine building as well as means of transport, logistics, mining etc,” Ristau said.

“New Zealand’s dynamic economic growth, particularly in the automation market, has prompted Beckhoff to increase its local commitment in order to gain new customers and tap into new fields of business.”

Since 2000, CSE W Arthur Fisher has been the New Zealand distributor for Beckhoff Automation.

“With the opening of our own Beckhoff New Zealand branch office in January 2012, we aim to intensify our business activities and improve sales support to our customers as well as technical support and service,” said Neil Pearce, Country Manager of Beckhoff New Zealand.

“With its stainless steel product series, Beckhoff offers a universal control solution for use in industries with very strict hygiene requirements, such as food and beverage production, pharmaceuticals and the packaging industry. So we envisage good opportunities to grow further in these areas,” Pearce said.

Pearce revealed that Beckhoff is planning an EtherCAT road show through Australia and New Zealand in 2012.
