Australian Made Campaign to receive funding boost

The federal government has announced it is injecting $5 million to make the iconic green and gold Australian Made, Australian Grown (AMAG) logo more recognisable across the globe.

The Australian Made Campaign Ltd (AMCL) has welcomed the commitment to supporting Australian manufacturers and exporters.

New funding will allow the Australian Made Export Initiative program to undertake a range of new activities designed to scale up Australian product sales in countries such as China, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

“Here in Australia we know the Australia Made logo means we’re quality — we want the rest of the world to get on board,” said Ed Husic, Minister for Industry and Science. “An investment in the Australia Made logo is an investment promoting Australia’s world-class products.”

There will be a particular focus on breaking into new markets in the global beauty, health, wellness and pet-care industries.

The grant will roll out over three years from July 2025, and seeks to:

  • Build the profile and awareness of the logo
  • Crack down on misuse of the logo and protect and strengthen the legal position of the logo
  • Facilitate export education and provide new channels to market
  • Provide opportunities for logo users to gain brand exposure
  • Increase prominence of the logo on products and marketing in overseas markets

According to AMCL, there are around 4500 businesses with products licensed to carry the AMAG logo across a wide range of goods. These AMCL licensees represent approximately 40,000 jobs and generate a combined annual revenue of $8.1 billion.

“It’s important that we value our manufacturing sector and provide an environment that encourages and assists manufacturers to innovate and build on their success while providing pathways to new markets. The end result being a healthy manufacturing sector, job creation and better access to markets,” said Australian Made Chief Executive Ben Lazzaro.

The AMAG logo is already a registered trademark in the USA, China, South Korea, Singapore, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, the United Kingdom, the European Union and the United Arab Emirates — with more regions underway.
