Australian air-conditioning manufacturer continues to grow internationally
Not all Australian manufacturers are doing it tough.
The Denver Business Journal has reported that Australian manufacturer Seeley International has acquired Denver’s Coolerado Corp., a manufacturer of a highly energy-efficient, indirect air-conditioning unit that has won several awards for its technology. The deal was finalised earlier in June, and terms were not disclosed.
Seeley International is Australia’s biggest manufacturer of air-conditioning units and also has its own line of energy-efficient cooling and heating equipment. The company’s lines include Breezair, Convair, Coolair, Braemar and Climate Wizard.
Based in Adelaide, Seeley has offices in six countries, has about 400 employees and sells its products in 100 countries.
“The addition of Coolerado’s innovative and award-winning products to our portfolio demonstrates our commitment and leadership in providing energy-efficient air-conditioning products,” said Frank Seeley, Seeley International’s founder and executive chairman.
“This acquisition establishes a US-based manufacturing facility, which is another exciting step in our growth strategy as we look to move closer to our North American customers,” Seeley said.
The deal means that Coolerado will expand the product lines it offers by adding the Breezair, Seeley’s direct evaporative cooling unit, as well as Seeley’s heating products. Seeley’s network of dealerships will also add Coolerado’s product to their offerings, making them available in the 100 countries.
Tom Teynor, CEO of Coolerado, said the expanded manufacturing operation, if Seeley decides to put it in Denver, would need between 100,000 and 300,000 square feet of space to meet the needs of the North American market.
